Enjoy Haiku's open air livingroom and enjoy St John's fragrant gentle breezes. Capturing the natural beauty and romance of the island, Haiku is architecturally designed in West Indian style influenced by the Danish Plantation Great-Houses.

With a level floor plan - there are no cliffs, railings, decks or stairs - it is safe for children and is wheelchair accessible. The living/dining area is open on three sides, with natural breezes and ceiling fans.

The living room cable TV has a swivel retractable arm and recesses into a hide-a-way cabinet.

Haiku, a non-smoking villa, is a five-minute walk away from the Westin Resort and about a 12 minute drive to the National Park Beaches.

This private villa is a unique example of living with nature and is situated on an acre of sloping woodland surrounded by gardens of native plants.

Haiku's pool has five wide steps, seating areas and a handrail for easy and safe entry into the pool.

Oval pool size is 10' 7" x 20' 2'"x  4' 5" at the deepest end.

Use our outdoor shower to rinse off beach sand.

Full advantage is taken of the ocean views and breezes while providing maximum privacy.

The kitchen provides all the amenities to enjoy your Caribbean dining.

Your kitchen has views of the living room, patio, yard and pool area.

The kitchen has a dishwasher, microwave, full size fridge, blender and a Quisinart 12-cup Thermal coffeemaker.

At the rear of the kitchen is a fence enclosed patio that includes a washer, dryer, beach chairs, beach coolers and clotheslines.

There are two air-conditioned wings with King and King/Twin bedrooms with en-suite baths and provide complete privacy for two couples with an additional outdoor shower off the Master. 

This bedroom has an adjoining King/Twin bedroom, that share a bath, and is great for having children close by.

The Master bathroom features an ante-room, 2 sinks and indoor bathtub and shower. This bath area is shared by the Master bedroom and the studio bedroom.

The Master-Studio bathroom also includes and enclosed outdoor shower with privacy fence. Very handy when returning from the beach!

The guest bedroom is located in a separate wing of the house.

Bananaquits and other birds will delight you with their antics at the patio's sugar feeder.

If you're lucky, you might catch a glimpse of an iguana.....

Haiku pool is 18’6” long by 8’6” wide, with graduated depth to 4’5” at farthest end of pool.

Haiku has wonderful views. When one looks outward, everywhere you look is another beautiful vista both close by and in the distance, yet privacy is maintained. The unique architectural style of Haiku allows cooling trade winds to flow through the rooms.  Many of the island animals take advantage of the garden’s native plantings.  It is not unusual to see, iguanas, lizards, butterflies and birds of all kinds visiting Haiku while you’re there.  Put some sugar out in the bird feeder to lure hummingbirds and bananaquits.  Some of the best moments come just lounging in the swimming pool, looking at the sailboats in Chocolate Hole, having an evening cocktail while watching the sun set, or relaxing in the hot tub while seeing the Milky Way more clearly than you ever could in a city.

June 3 – 10. 2023 - Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with my family for a week. Your little piece of peaceful Paradise on this amazing Island is just what we needed to “forget about life for awhile. “We were amazed every morning with an iguana sun bathing by the pool & then getting in for a few laps. The chairs and coolers came in handy for our trips to all the beaches. We made it to Jumbie Beach, Trunk Bay, Cinnamon Bay, Maho Bay - our favorite for snorkeling as it had the most marine life activity with several sea turtles, sting rays, star fish, various colored fish, coral, small squid, barracuda, nurse shark (thankfully stayed at the bottom) And many other amazing creatures. We also snorkeled at Salt Pond and Hansen Bay (privately owned and very nice).

The sun & salt water were EXTREMELY BRUTAL on us Ohio & Michigan folks. We were all suffering from serious sunburns.

Some words of advice!

1. Wear rash guards with long sleeves & a hood. Put on while snorkeling.
2. Ladies-go get swim pants or Capri’s, my sister & I found them at Big Planet in Mongoose Junction in Cruz Bay, Your behinds & backs of your legs will thank you! Sorry guys-there were no swim pants for you, but if you can fit into the ladies - BUY THEM! That is where we got burned the worst (painted lobsters & swelling). It’s no joke. And the salt water makes your skin SO TIGHT –painfully tight!
3. Any exposed skin must be covered with REF SAFE Mineral Sunscreen. We found the best priced at Skinny Legs Gift Shop (expensive but necessary).
4. One day we did a fishing excursion on a charter boat. We caught 3 different kinds of fish. Our Captain Carlos cleaned them & we went directly to Woody’s where they battered and seasoned them for us. Wonderful meal!

 If you get the chance, go to the Visitor’s Center of the Virgin Islands National Park & ask the Park Ranger about the history on the island, The Sugar Cane Plantations & how the owners treated the enslaved people. They talked about Laurance Rockefeller purchased 60% of the Island & made it a National Park. How the donkeys were used & how they are still here. It was very eye opening.

July 15 – 24, 2023 - We are thrilled with our first visit to the island. We stayed 9 nights..4 days @ a cottage at Cinnamon Bay Campground followed by 5 days @ Haiku. Our stay at Haiku was THE PERFECT RESPITE to the Campground. We loved our time here.

Hiked: Cinnamon Bay Trail, Ram’s Head Trail, America Hill, Salt Pond, Leinster Bay.

Snorkeled: Cinnamon Bay, Maho Bay, Trunk Bay, Waterlemon Cay, Salt Pond Beach.

Fish & Critters; Green turtles, octopus, squid, more reef fish than we could inventory, barracuda, urchins, sting rays, cushion sea stars & more! Iguanas!!!

Dove: With Low Key – Mingo Cay & Grass Cay

Ate: Rainforest Café, Skinny Legs, Seas Dog Café, Woody’s, Windmill Bar & Morgan Mango

Thank you for letting us stay at Haiku. We love the home layout. Nice breeze, AC is a plus in the bedrooms. Swimming pool is great after a day at the beach All the North Shore beaches are beautiful!!

Spent two days exploring Coral Bay and those beaches. Found more coral and fish at Salt Pond than the North Shore beaches, just remember you have to walk ¼ mile trail to the beach that’s tough on a hot afternoon. Stop at Surf Club Cantina in Coral Bay. Nice people, good food and a super view of Coral Bay.-Truman’s – New Castle, Delaware

Guest: June 17 - 25 Five Stars! Haiku is a lovely house, the grounds are beautiful and private. The natural setting with Birds and Lizadrs is delightful. The Amenities, TV's, Games, Books, Cooking Equipment, Laundry facilities were all you need to make your stay easy.

Haiku was just perfect for our family of 6! The beds were comfortable, the air worked great, the kitchen was fully stocked. Appreciated that the kitchen had spices, oils, and other items that made cooking easy and feel like home. Plenty of towels for using at the beach. The pool and hot tub were used each day. Loved sitting out and watching the iguanas, hummingbirds, and other wildlife. I’ve been to St. john several times, and this has been our most enjoyable stay. I would highly recommend and will stay again!

Great location. Open air living worked well for us. Comfortable beds, AC worked well in bedrooms. Kitchen was well stocked with up to date appliances, etc. 4th time to St. John. Would definitely consider renting again. No complaints from anyone in our group of six.

Fun and relaxing Arrived March 12, 2022. Posted April 1, 2022     “Haiku was a very different kind of place for us. But we absolutely loved it. The interaction with the local wildlife was fun and I was able to get lots of pictures of birds around the feeder in the morning and evenings. The Bananaquits, Bullfinch (might have been a Tanager??), Scaly Necked Pigeons, T’rushies, Doves, Hummingbirds and pair of Kestrel all visited during our stay. The iguanas made a few appearances and allowed for pictures. As each day passed, we enjoyed the property more and more. Nakira was prompt in meeting us and informing us of the property.
